So if you've noticed my past few posts, I'm having a bit of a friendly competition with a couple friends to see who can get the best lap time at Road Atlanta in the 2006 Renault R26. Right now I have a comfortable 3 seconds on the least skilled of the three of us but my other friend has yet to post a time and he is very close to me in terms of skill so I want to get a good leg-up on him. Right now I have trouble getting heat into the rear tires they seem to run around 190F all the time. The right front runs just right almost all the time and the left front usually runs hot 220 avg up to 230+ when I need it most and it gets slippery. I have tried softening the front antiroll bar and stiffening the rear antiroll bar as well as springs. I have the rear wing at the maximum angle. What can you guru's tell me? I'm pretty much a scrub when it comes to setups. I know little beyond the basics.

Here's my fastest lap as of 10 minutes ago:

Pull out a little wing, it's overstressing the front tires. Look at your tire temps in the garage after a run, see if the rears have proper heating. Try running a slightly softer rear spring to work the rear end more.

Having too much rear wing overstresses the front tires?

Front wing, sorry. Try softening your rear antiroll bar just a little, it may help.

I wouldn't worry about rear tire temps much, unless you're losing traction badly through overheating it's not a big deal. Work on using the left front less, that'll give you the most gains.
